The Team:
Under the direction of the Clerical Manager, Emergency Department:
- Provide front-line coordination and support of daily activities of the Emergency Department clerical staff in providing an efficient and effective emergency reception service.
- Provide training and support on clinical information systems used within the Emergency Department including associated business processes for their use.
- Undertake activities to guide and support the capture and maintenance of accurate data within clinical information systems and health records.
The Role:
- Under the direction and general supervision of the ED Clerical Manager, the Team Leader:
- Assists in providing an efficient and effective emergency reception service.
- Operates autonomously and exercise discretion and initiative in the completion of tasks.
- Oversees the day-to-day activities of ED Triage Clerks to provide high quality administrative support including escalation of operational concerns for further advice or management.
- Use initiative and judgement to provide alternatives, opinions, recommendations, and solutions to resolve operational issues.
- Champions a child safe culture that upholds the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations. The Department is committed to the safety, wellbeing, and empowerment of all children and young people, and expect all employees to actively participate in and contribute to our rights-based approach to care, including meeting all mandatory reporting obligations.
- Where applicable, exercises delegations in accordance with a range of Acts, Regulations, Awards, administrative authorities and functional arrangements as mandated by Statutory office holders including the Secretary and Head of State Service. The relevant Unit Manager can provide details to the occupant of delegations applicable to this position.
- Comply at all times with policy and protocol requirements, including those relating to mandatory education, training and assessment.
You will need:
- High level knowledge and experience working in a health environment and demonstrated capacity to assist with administrative aspects in managing critically ill and serious injured patients.
- Demonstrated leadership skills within a busy, demanding work environment including highly developed problem solving, time management, and organisational skills.
- Demonstrated high level of written and oral communication and conflict resolution skills, including responding to consumer feedback, and the ability to liaise and negotiate with personnel from a wide range of clinical and non-clinical disciplines.
- Demonstrated experience, and knowledge of relevant clinical application systems, including the accurate capture of data, along with the ability to adapt to new technology and processes, and the ability to train and support staff in using these systems and processes.
- Demonstrated ability to consistently apply hospital policies and established guidelines to the work context.

Details of appointment:
Permanent, part time, shift worker (fully rotational) position, working 56 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $81,915 to $94,263 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
