Job description:

Exciting opportunity for a Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the Department of Health!

The Team:

  • Glenorchy CCT is a large catchment including the midlands and Derwent valley, Brighton council area and city of Glenorchy.
  • We are a vibrant MDT including lived experience workers, nurses, psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, and psychiatrists.

The Role:

  • Provide treatment recommendations and specialist support to the multidisciplinary team, other health professionals and community support organisations as required and assist with clinical decision making and the planning, implementation and evaluation of care given to Continuing Care Stream clients to facilitate a person- centred and recovery focused approach.
  • Accept responsibility as the ‘designated nurse responsible’ for the coordination of medications within the community service as per legal requirement, policies and procedures.
  • Identify professional learning needs of community nursing staff and, in collaboration with Clinical Nurse Educators and the Team Leader, develop, implement and review strategies to address those needs.
  • Provides clinical expertise in contemporary nursing practice within Adult and Community Mental Health setting, promoting professional standards of practice and an environment conducive to innovation and change that promotes best practice and meets established accreditation standards of practice.
  • Is required to function as a single practitioner working within established decision-making and operational frameworks to provide effective care and treatment to assigned clients and clients of the broader team when indicated.

You will need:

  1. Extensive experience in and comprehensive knowledge of clinical nursing practice in a variety of settings, with at least five years post-graduate clinical nursing experience directly applicable to Mental Health settings.
  2. Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and awards, including the Mental Health Act, Right to Information Act, Work Health and Safety Act and relevant statutory requirements and departmental procedures and policies.
  3. Highly developed interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills, and the proven ability to work constructively as part of a multidisciplinary team at both service and community levels.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of approximately twelve (12) months.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $106,570 to $112,440 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and possess specialist tertiary graduate or post graduate mental health/psychiatric nursing qualification; or completed, prior to the transfer of nurse education to the tertiary sector, an accredited hospital based program that led to registration as a psychiatric nurse by the relevant nurse regulatory authority within Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the United Kingdom

  • Current Driver’s Licence

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Extensive, relevant psychiatric nursing experience and/or is credentialed as a Mental Health Nurse by the Australian and New Zealand College of Mental Health Nurses Inc. or equivalent

  • Holds, or is working towards, relevant tertiary qualifications
