Job description:

Exciting opportunity for an Enrolled Nurse to join the Department of Health!

The Team:

The JW Whittle Palliative Care Unit is the specialist palliative care inpatient facility for Southern Tasmania. The Unit is purpose built and has 10 patient rooms and numerous areas for patient's families and carers to spend time together. The multidisciplinary team comprises specialist nurses, medical staff, hospital assistants, ward clerk, pharmacist, social work, physiotherapist, music therapist, pastoral care and Hospice Volunteers. The focus of care is on meeting individual need. 

The Role:

The Enrolled Nurse provides direct patient/client centred nursing care to assigned patients/clients, within the scope of practice of an enrolled nurse and under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse/midwife to achieve planned patient outcomes.

You will need:

  1. Sound knowledge of the principles of nursing care, procedures and practices.
  2. Demonstrated ability to practice in a manner that respects the right of individuals and groups.
  3. Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term, part time, shift worker (fully rotational) position, working 56 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of approximately six (6) months.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $70,980 to $78,179 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qualification type

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as an Enrolled Nurse (holds a Board-approved qualification in administration of medicines)
