The Role:
- Support the key tenets of the Operational Service Model (OSM) for the relevant area, which are to provide a supportive and therapeutic environment that promotes independence, opportunity, and recovery for people who maybe experiencing situational or suicidal distress.
- Provide outcome focused, recovery orientated services to clients of the mental health service.
- Use their lived experience of mental illness and recovery experience to share experiential knowledge, skills and strategies to support individuals to navigate the mental health system and social services system and optimise outcomes for friends, families and individuals.
You will need:
- Ability to use lived experience of mental illness to promote recovery and enhanced individual outcomes for clients of mental health services.
- Demonstrated understanding of peer work best practice, the values that support peer work and the impact of mental illness on people’s lives.
- Commitment to work collaboratively and effectively with multiple key internal and external stakeholders including consumers, carers, family members, and public, government and community service providers.
- Well- developed interpersonal and communication skills, as well as an ability to develop rapport with a wide range of people and relationships with service providers. Ability to escalate any issues that maybe beyond day to day issues.
- Demonstrated capability to apply confidence and resilience when working with people with a lived experience of mental illness, especially during times of crisis and stress.

The Team:
Clarence and Eastern Continuing Care Team supports consumers with severe and enduring mental illness. We work closely with the wider THS mental health services to ensure we deliver client-centred care in the community. All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.
Details of appointment:
Fixed term, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of approximately six (6) months.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $65,236 to $68,925 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
