We are seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist with experience in acute mental health, complex case management, assessment, and trauma informed therapy.  You would be working within a well-supported, innovative, diverse multidisciplinary team to provide developmentally appropriate treatment with young people and their families. 

Our Aim:

The Child and Youth Mental Health Service in Tasmania is growing! We are seeking passionate and dedicated Clinical Nurse Specialists to provide clinical services with young people experiencing mental health concerns. The position available is within our new teams which are currently being developed as initiatives under the CYMHS reform program (Youth, Youth Forensic, Out of Home Care).

The Clinical Nurse Specialist will be part of the Youth Mental Health Program and will have a passion for providing a person-centred approach, trauma informed therapy, and working within a multidisciplinary team environment, providing high level clinical care.

The role will include:

  • Being part of a dynamic and well supported team committed to delivering high quality mental health services young people who are experiencing mental health issues.
  • Undertaking clinical services through the provision of case management, assessment, and individual therapies, including group programs
  • Working alongside innovative consultant psychiatrists and team leaders to develop new youth mental health services in Tasmania. 
  • Working with an amazing and diverse group of clinicians as part of the collaborative multidisciplinary team, including the provision of support and consultation to other team members as required.

Details of appointment:

Permanent part time, day worker position, working 45.6 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $103,466 - $109,165 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023

Allowances:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Payment of $15,000 staged over three years is available for Nurses and Midwives who move to Tasmania from interstate and remain employed full time for three years or more, on top of relocation allowance already available.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type.
  • Travel and relocation assistance support available up to $15,000 for eligible appointees.
  • Professional development and accelerated pathways.
  • Excellent leave benefits: 20 days annual leave (pro rata), 20 days personal leave (pro rata), and study assistance leave if eligible.
  • Fitness Passport – You, and your family can access 40+ fitness facilities across Tasmania for just $13.95 per week per person, or $25.95 for a family.

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  1. Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
  2. Current Working with Children Registration

*Registration/licenses that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licenses remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/license is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.

  1. Minimum of 2 years post graduate experience in an area relevant to the role
  2. Postgraduate qualification or working towards a postgraduate qualification  relevant to the role
  3. Current Driver’s Licence
