The role:
- Provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care in the clinical area and act as a resource pharmacist for the particular area of speciality.
- Work within Alcohol and Drug policies for the provision of services to the Pharmacotherapy and Inpatient Withdrawal Units and dispense and dose for Pharmacotherapy patients on a daily basis.
- Dispense medications for patients being discharged from the Inpatient Withdrawal Units. Provide information and education to staff and clients on Consumer Medication Information.
- Maintain the efficiency of the drug supply systems, including monitoring stock levels on the Inpatient Withdrawal Unit and recording processes.

The Team:
Alcohol and Drug Services provides opioid pharmacotherapy, inpatient detoxification from alcohol and other drugs, counselling, smoking cessation, and detoxification in the home services to the Tasmanian community. The Pharmacy team provide clinical pharmacy services to each of our teams across the state, with a focus on opioid pharmacotherapy dosing.
- Work across a multi-disciplinary work environment
- Focus on Alcohol and Drug Pharmacotherapies, including daily medication dosing and inpatient withdrawal medication management
- Pharmacy opens every day including weekends and public holidays
Details of Appointment
Fixed term, casual, shift-worker position working as and when required, commencing as soon as possible for a period of 12 months.

Salary: $106,966 to $118,114 per annum + 11% superannuation + access to salary packaging
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Please note that access to salaries beyond $115,573 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme
- Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022
Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
- Registered with the Pharmacy Board of Australia
- For pre-registration (intern) pharmacists: Eligible for provisional registration with the Pharmacy Board of Australia.
- Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Pharmacy Board of Australia or completion of an overseas qualification eligible for skills assessment through the Australian Pharmacy Council.
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
- Current Driver’s Licence
- Accredited pharmacotherapy Pharmacist for both methadone and buprenorphine (Subutex®), or the ability to gain accreditation
