Job description:

The Horticulturalist role is paramount to the success of the site in ensuring that our facility is maintained and well presented to ensure high quality healthcare is provided to our community.

The Role:

  • Assist with the designated landscaping including garden construction, minor concrete construction, leveling, drainage and fencing.
  • Assist with the safe handling and application of chemical sprays for total vegetation control. Provide technical advice to other Gardeners in the appropriate use of chemical applications.
  • Assist undertake repair and maintenance of gardening equipment and machinery.

Knowledge of horticultural practices or ability to acquire knowledge including areas such as:

    • Planning and undertaking of work
    • programmed maintenance
    • Current horticultural practices
    • Maintenance of gardening tools and equipment
    • Plant health and pest and disease management

The Team:

The Mersey Community Hospital based in Latrobe Tasmania is a modern 160 bed facility providing high quality healthcare and specialist services to the community. The facility provides acute services for the NW region.

The Horticulturalist role is paramount to the success of the site in ensuring that our facility is maintained and well presented to ensure high quality healthcare is provided to our community. 

As site Horticulturalist you will work alongside a multidisciplined team who provide an extensive range of expertise in plant and equipment within the North West region. The department is responsible for the maintenance and provision of the following services:

  • Carpentry
  • Painting
  • Plumbing
  • Electrical
  • Mechanical
  • Minor New Works

Details of appointment:

Permanent full time, day worker, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $71,661 to $77,455 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sectors Unions Wages Agreement 2022
