The Role:
- Liaise and support members of the health care teams, in the development of Infection Prevention and Control policies, practice and legal requirements, to provide safe quality patient care.
- Liaise and collaborate with the Infection Prevention and Control Educators with development of training programs throughout the North West using best practice principles aligned with National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards direction framework.
- Provide the Executive Director of Nursing and Midwifery and Nursing Director Operations (North West Regional Hospital (NWRH) and Mersey Community Hospital (MCH) with high quality and authoritative advice and support.
- Liaise with Infectious Diseases Physician to manage risks associated with healthcare associated infections and supports as relevant antimicrobial stewardship.
- Monitors, assesses and uses surveillance data to reduce risks associated with healthcare associated infections and supports appropriate antimicrobial prescribing.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the Infection Prevention and Control service in the delivery of infection control programs across the North West.

The Mersey Community Hospital is situated on the North West Coast and provides quality general and specialist healthcare services to the local community.
The Clinical Nurse Consultant – Infection Prevention and Control leads the delivery of infection control strategies to a broad range of employees. The CNC-IPC provides expertise and guidance to healthcare providers in the development of THS policies, procedures and guidelines with a particular focus on prevention, surveillance, investigation and control of healthcare-associated infections and communicable diseases.

Details of appointment:
Permanent, part time, day worker (with on-call) position, working 8 hours per fortnight, commencing from 2 December 2024.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $111,506 to $118,336 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023 and Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Interim Agreement 2013.
Allowance:
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum
