Job description:

The role of the Clinical Nurse Educator is to facilitate and support the development of the Hospitals North workforce by planning, promoting, coordinating, implementing and evaluating education programs pertaining to peripheral intravenous cannulation.

The Role:

The role of the Clinical Nurse Educator is to facilitate and support the development of the Hospitals North workforce by planning, promoting, coordinating, implementing and evaluating education programs pertaining to peripheral intravenous cannulation.
This role:

  • Leads safe and quality care through the advancement of evidence-based practice and patient centred care in the area of peripheral intravenous cannulation.
  • Applies high level professional and clinical expertise in collaboration with stakeholders to enact education and development strategies for the clinical workforce.
  • Plans, assesses, implements and evaluates educational programs to ensure they align with the needs of the Organisation and the workforce.

The Nursing Education Unit, Launceston General Hospital, Hospitals North:

  • The Launceston General Hospital is located in the regional Tasmanian city of Launceston, in the north of Tasmania.  At the head of the beautiful Tamar Valley, Launceston has a vibrant multi-cultural population.
  • The Nursing Education Unit is a small team committed to providing evidence-based education to the multi-disciplinary health team.

Details of Appointment

Permanent, full time, day worker position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from 16 December 2024.

*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

  • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or fixed term full time, part time and casual vacancies.

Salary: $111,506 - $118,336 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type
  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  1. Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  1. Holds, or is currently working towards, postgraduate qualifications in education and/or clinical teaching and learning
  2. Competence in ultrasound guided peripheral intravenous cannula insertion.
  3. Current Driver’s Licence

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

  1. Conviction checks in the following areas:
  1. crimes of violence
  2. sex related offences
  3. serious drug offences
  4. crimes involving dishonesty
  1. Identification check
  2. Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
