Job description:

The Launceston General Hospital (LGH) is Tasmania's second largest hospital and the major referral centre for Northern Tasmania, operating within its designated role in the Tasmanian Role Delineation Framework as a Level 5 hospital. With approximately 350 beds (excluding mental health inpatient beds), the LGH provides inpatient and ambulatory services to Launceston and surrounding areas, and is the largest employer in the region with around 4000 staff.

The Role:

The Registered Nurse:

  • Strengthens health outcomes through the provision of safe quality, clinically appropriate nursing care in partnership with patients/clients, their families and other health professionals.

The Team:

The Emergency Department (ED) of the LGH is a newly completed redeveloped 43 treatment space ED which now accommodates 3 resuscitation areas with full radiology capability, Fast track staffed by a Nurse Practitioner, Isolation Rooms, Acute and Sub-acute treatment areas and a separate paediatric waiting room. Details of Appointment: 

Multiple Permanent, full time and part time, shift-worker(fully rotational) positions working up to 76 hours per fortnight commencing from a mutually agreed date

*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

  • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or fixed term full time, part time and casual vacancies.

Salary: $75,902  - $102,908 pro rata per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. 

  • Access to the Grade 4 salary range $96,558 - $102,908 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4
  • Payment of $15,000 staged over three years is available for Nurses and Midwives who move to Tasmania from interstate and remain employed full time for three years or more, on top of relocation allowance already available.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type 
  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
