As the largest hospital and major triage centre for the state, the RHH sees a wide range of clinical populations, which enables you to rapidly broaden your clinical knowledge and experience. The role:

An exciting opportunity exists for a psychologist to join our team in Psychology Services, Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH). Tasmania offers a unique culture and lifestyle, with a strong sense of community and belonging. Say goodbye to lengthy commutes, and enjoy breath-taking coastlines, National Parks, and incredible fresh produce crafted by locals, all within a stone’s throw of your workplace.

As the largest hospital and major triage centre for the state, the RHH sees a wide range of clinical populations, which enables you to rapidly broaden your clinical knowledge and experience. This is a rare opportunity that would be of particular benefit to early career clinicians. The slower paced lifestyle allows you to practice mindfully, to find meaning in your work, and to develop a strong understanding of your patients.

As part of our friendly Psychology Services team, you will receive clinical supervision and opportunities for skill development, collaboration, and professional growth.

As the Clinical Neuropsychologist or Clinical Neuropsychologist Registrar, you will provide evidence-based assessments and interventions to patients of the RHH Neuropsychology Outpatient Paediatric Neuropsychology Services (OPeNS).

The OPeNS is a statewide specialist neuropsychology service based at Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH), for children and adolescents with congenital disorders or acquired brain injuries.

The role involves:

  • Assessment of neuropsychological conditions to inform ongoing care and support needs;
  • Providing psychoeducation to patients and their families and recommendations for further support;
  • Delivery of appropriate cognitive and behavioural interventions; and,
  • Liaising with community providers to link the patient in with relevant services and supports.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a neuropsychologist with experience in paediatric assessment, or an enthusiastic registrar or new graduate looking to develop skills within this field. Support and mentoring are available to help the successful applicant to transition into the role, and clinical supervision will be provided to new graduates and psychology registrars.

Please get in touch to discuss this opportunity further and how it fits with your career goals and to learn about other opportunities in Psychology Services.
