The role:
The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) - Primary Health North provides effective leadership and management in a complex multidisciplinary environment to achieve the defined clinical objectives of district hospital services within the THS - North region.
As a member of Leadership team, the Assistant Director of Nursing - Primary Health North (PHN) will:
- provide a high level of operational and professional leadership and direction, ensuring resources are effectively utilised and the highest standards of service delivery are maintained in accordance with the THS – North policy directions, service standards and financial performance targets.
- ensure effective professional governance and partnerships, quality training and practice development, and will collaboratively progress and maximise strategic nursing initiatives including the development of a sustainable workforce to achieve nursing excellence and ensure a sustainable nursing service for our community.
- provide the Nursing Director – PHN with high level quality advice and support.

- PHN has eight district hospitals with 132 beds. Forty-seven of these beds are aged care and there are also 14 emergency beds. The hospitals provide inpatient care, community nursing, adult day centre and other support services.
- The Director of Nursing from each of these hospitals will report to the Assistant Director of Nursing – PHN.

Details of Appointment
Permanent, full time, day worker, position working 76 hours per fortnight commencing from as soon as you can join the team.

- Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.
Salary: $145,444 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
Payment of $15,000 staged over three years is available for Nurses and Midwives who move to Tasmania from interstate and remain employed full time for three years or more, on top of relocation allowance already available (subject to approval).
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023 and Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Interim Agreement 2013
Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
- Current Driver’s Licence.
*Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.
