Job description:

We are seeking a passionate ANUM to join our team and ensure the efficient and effective provision of care at the Wilfred Lopes Centre.

The Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) is an experienced nurse who, within the defined area of practice:

  • Works in partnership with the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) and other senior staff, to ensure the efficient and effective provision of care based on best practice principles within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework.
  • Assists the NUM with the planning and management of staff and resources and provides operational leadership through the coordination of the day to day patient care activities, including patient flow.

The Role

  1. Assist the NUM with the day to day management and coordination of resources to ensure optimal patient care.
  2. Coordinate patient/client centred care delivery and flow.
  3. Ensure the maintenance of effective communication channels with internal and external stakeholders to promote patient/client care delivery.
  4. Provide a high level of clinical knowledge and skill to ensure clinical standards and policies and procedures to promote a patient focused model of care according to best practice principles.
  5. Act as a role model and clinical resource person to provide clinical advice, recommendations and effective utilisation of resources.

The Wilfred Lopes Centre:

  • The Wilfred Lopes Centre is a specialised mental health facility located in Risdon Vale, Hobart. The Centre is located near Risdon Prison, however, is not a part of the Prison
  • We provide care and treatment for people with mental health issues who are involved with the criminal system.
  • Those in our care may be inmates of the Tasmanian Prison Service; are appearing in or remanded from the Magistrates or Supreme Courts; are found Not Guilty be Reason of Insanity or Unfit to Plead and placed on a Forensic Order; or may be community clients who are presenting with risks to themselves or others and cannot be managed in the community or the inpatient mental health units.
  • Our staff enjoy free on-site parking, a 6.5% correctional allowance and access to salary packaging. 

Position Features

  • This position is located in a forensic setting at the Secure Mental Health Unit
  • The occupant/s will have regular daily contact with patients in an environment that requires all staff to be alert to any matter concerning the security and safety of patients, staff and the Wilfred Lopes Centre

The occupant/s will also be required to comply with all security practices and procedures of the Wilfred Lopes Centre including biometric identification

Details of Appointment

Permanent part time shift-worker position working 64 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

  • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.

Salary: $103,466 - $109,165 per annum. Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. 

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: 

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qualification type 
  • This position attracts a 6.5% correctional allowance 
  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  1. Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

  • Holds, or is working towards, relevant postgraduate qualifications

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
