Job description:

Carry out a range of duties associated with maintaining food preparation, service and waste management areas in a clean hygienic state within the Launceston General Hospital (LGH).

The role: Kitchenhand 

  • Carry out a range of duties associated with maintaining food preparation, service and waste management areas in a clean hygienic state within the Launceston General Hospital (LGH).

The area:

  • Ability to maintain all food service equipment and surfaces in a clean and hygienic state.
  • Ability to understand both written and verbal instructions, and to cooperate with other personnel within the department to work successfully as a team.
  • Possess the physical capacity to handle / manoeuvre heavy objects and trollies, conduct cleaning tasks and stand for prolonged periods. 

Details of Appointment

Two (2) fixed term, casual, shift-worker (fully rotational) positions available, working as and when required, commencing as soon as possible for 12 months.

*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

  • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.

Salary: $55,466 to $57,712 pro rata, per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022

Eligibility:

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

  1. Conviction checks in the following areas:
  1. crimes of violence
  2. sex related offences
  3. serious drug offences
  4. crimes involving dishonesty
  1. Identification check
  2. Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
