We are seeking applications from Registered Nurses with experience in leadership and Palliative Care Services for the role of Nurse Unit Manager Specialist Palliative Care Service (SPCS)

The role:

We are seeking applications from Registered Nurses with experience in leadership and Palliative Care Services for the role of Nurse Unit Manager Specialist Palliative Care Service (SPCS)

The successful candidate will ensure the efficient and effective provision of care, based on clinical standards and best practice principles within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework by coordinating the clinical, management, education and nursing research functions within the SPCS.

They will lead and manage the coordination of overall patient/client care and will be responsible for managing the allocated human, material and financial resources for service delivery within the SPCS.

The Service

The North West Specialist Palliative Care Service is a community based consultative service, working across hospital, aged care and home settings. We are a diverse team, working across diverse communities and landscapes in northwest Tasmania. We service the main population centres of Devonport and Burnie, as well as taking in the rugged landscapes of the West Coast, King Island, Smithton and Sheffield.

  • The multi-disciplinary team which consists of medical, nursing, allied health and administrative disciplines provide palliative care advice and support to health care providers across North West Tasmania
  • The team work across diverse care environments including inpatient, community and Residential Aged Care Facilities - working closely with GP's, consultants, community nursing services, hospital staff and those working in aged care to ensure an integrated palliative approach with improved client and carer outcomes.

  • The team manage the care of palliative clients and their families when complex symptom management and support is required.

Details of Appointment

Permanent, full-time, day worker position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as you are available to join our team.

  • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.

Salary: $118,801 to $125,301 pro rata per annum. Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. 

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: 

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qualification type 
  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $500 per annum
  • Further range of conditions and entitlements in accordance with the Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service Agreement) 2023

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  1. Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

  1. Relevant post graduate qualifications
  2. Current Drivers Licence
