Job description:

Assist the Head of Unit Respiratory Medicine in the planning and management of the operation and development of the Department of Respiratory Medicine at the Royal Hobart Hospital, ensuring the laboratory provides an accredited service which is in accordance with Department requirements and national standards.

The role:

Assist the Head of Unit Respiratory Medicine in the planning and management of the operation and development of the Department of Respiratory Medicine at the Royal Hobart Hospital, ensuring the laboratory provides an accredited service which is in accordance with Department requirements and national standards.

Provide safe, high quality and compassionate patient care in delivery of laboratory operations, staff training, performance of routine and complex testing, and participation in educational and research activities.

The area:

  • We are seeking people to join our team in our Respiratory and Sleep Lab. They are required to support both the Respiratory and Sleep service, with the flexibility to cover daytime duties and shifts if required.  
  • The role within the Sleep Lab will be to provide a high-quality clinical service within a 3-bed sleep laboratory for patients with sleep disorders. The overnight role within the sleep service includes welcoming, education, setting up patients, ensuring the integrity of the recorded data and assisting the patients as required overnight. The daytime role will be to assist in the daily running of the lab, which includes administrative tasks, scoring, reporting and daytime testing.
  • The role within the Respiratory Lab will be to provide complex lung function testing and assist in the day to day running of the Lab.  

Details of Appointment

Permanent, full time, shift-worker positions, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

  • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.

Salary: $106,966 to $123,013 per annum. Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum or the ability to accrue funds for up to five years.
  • Post graduate qualification salary advancement where applicable.
  • Please note that access to salaries beyond $115,573 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme.
  • Salary range is in accordance with the Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No.2 of 2022.

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

Eligible for membership to the following:

  • Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand
  • Australian Council for Clinical Physiologists
  • Australia and New Zealand Sleep Science Association
  • Australian and New Zealand Society of Respiratory Science

  1. Experience or an equivalent qualification, appropriate to the nature of the work
