Job description:

The Registered Nurse - Correctional Primary Health Services:

  • Strengthens health outcomes through the provision of safe quality, clinically appropriate nursing care in partnership with patients’/clients’, their families and other health professionals.

The Role

  1. In collaboration with members of the healthcare team plan, implement and evaluate patient/client care.
  2. Practice in accordance with the NMBA codes and guidelines for registered nurses/midwives.
  3. Interact effectively and appropriately with patients’/clients’ families and other health team members to facilitate the provision of optimum patient/client care.
  4. Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to a strong team approach through open communication and a positive supportive approach.
  5. Active involvement in maintaining and continually improving the quality of patient/client care. This may include participation in research and evidence based practice.
  6. Identify and meet educational needs of patients’/clients’ and their families/significant others.

Details of Appointment

Please note there are multiple opportunities available:

Multiple permanent full time and part time shift-worker positions working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

  • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.

Salary: $75,902 - $102,908 per annum. + 11% Employer superannuation contribution + 6.5% correctional allowance on top of the salaried amount

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. 

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qualification type 
  • Access to the Grade 4 salary range $96,558 - $102,908 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4
  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  1. Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

  1. Conviction checks in the following areas:
  1. crimes of violence
  2. sex related offences
  3. serious drug offences
  4. crimes involving dishonesty
  1. Identification check
  2. Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
