About the Role

In this role, you will support case management processes for young people in custody at Ashley Youth Detention Centre (AYDC), providing practical and administrative assistance in line with legislative requirements. Working within a complex and challenging environment, you will contribute to a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement tailored plans that meet the individual needs of young people.

You will play an important role in supporting coordinated reintegration services, helping young people transition back into the community while contributing to the continuous improvement of case management systems and processes. This role offers valuable opportunities to build your expertise in working with complex cases, collaborate across services, and further develop your professional practice.

• You are an adaptable, resilient, open minded Social Worker who work effectively in a complex, high‑pressure environment within established safeguards.
• Ideally, you have experience working in areas such as youth work, mental health, schools, residential care, child safety, community services or youth justice. You bring a genuine commitment to supporting young people and improving outcomes.
• You can navigate differing professional perspectives, understand competing priorities, and find common ground to support the best outcomes for young people.
• You are open and constructive in the face of ambiguity, with a strong commitment to growing your practice and capability in working with young people with complex needs, all while applying trauma‑informed principles.

Condition of Employment

• Salary $81,614 per annum to $115,529 + 6.5% corrections allowance + super
• Award/ Agreement: Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Union Wages Agreement
• Classification: Allied Health Professional Level 1 – 2

Essential Requirements

To be eligible, you must:

• Hold a tertiary qualification/program of study accredited by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and you are a full member of AASW or are eligible for membership with the AASW
• Ability to obtain or have a current Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Employment Status) – Tasmania.
• Satisfy a pre-employment check
