The Team
We are seeking a health social worker to be part of our Community & Outpatient Social work team, based at Kingston Health Centre.
The Role
- Within a primary health care framework, provide a social work service to individuals, families, groups and communities.
- Deliver accessible and equitable social work services to adults in Southern Tasmania who experience psychosocial health issues.
- Provide an effective, holistic psychosocial service that is evidence-informed, locally appropriate and sustainable.
- As a senior member of the health care team provide support to leadership in developing, implementing and monitoring policies and practices that reflect the priorities and standards of the service.
- Promote community awareness work with other agencies, organisations and the wider community to develop an integrated approach to delivering health services
You will need
- Comprehensive knowledge of Social Work theory as it applies to practice in an acute care and community setting hospital.
- Ability to practice Social Work in an acute care hospital or community-based setting, with the ability to provide psycho-social assessments, casework and group work appropriate to the needs of the client group.
- Ability to be self- motivated and self-directed and to optimise the use of resources.

Details of appointment
Permanent part time, day worker position, working 45.6 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary
$81,614 to $117,074 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2025.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
Allowances
- Please note that access to salaries beyond $117,074 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum

Eligibility
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.
- Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Australian Association of Social Workers
- Full member of Australian Association of Social Workers
- Eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
- Overseas qualified Social Work candidates require a “certification of eligibility” letter from the AASW to confirm their eligibility for membership to the AASW
- Or where regulatory requirements exist, NDIS Q&S Commission Provider Registration Requirements
