The Team:
Who we care:
The Roy Fagan Centre (RFC) is Tasmania’s statewide specialised inpatient mental health facility for older persons, and part of Older Person’s Mental Health Service (OPMHS). We provide compassionate, person-centred care to individuals experiencing acute mental ill health, neuropsychiatric symptoms of dementia, and complex psychiatric conditions. Our multidisciplinary team works across four purpose-built units, each designed to support dignity, safety, and therapeutic engagement.

Our patients are older Tasmanians age 65+, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 50+, who require specialised mental health support. We also support individuals with young-onset neurodegenerative conditions.

The Role:
- As a Senior Physiotherapist at Roy Fagan Centre, you will provide professional leadership and direction evaluating physiotherapy performance at the Roy Fagan Centre, and interpreting policy relevant to the team
- Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will support consumers to maintain mobility, function, independence and quality of life, while contributing to care planning, service development, staff supervision and quality improvement initiatives.
- This is a unique opportunity to combine expertise in physiotherapy with the rewards of working in Tasmania's specialist statewide older persons mental health service.
You will need:
- Experience in physiotherapy practice with an interest in older persons, dementia and mental health care, with sound knowledge of relevant contemporary physiotherapy practice including assessment, intervention techniques, literature, resources and equipment.
- Strong communication and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.
- A commitment to evidence-based practice, quality improvement and clinical leadership.

Details of appointment:
Permanent part time, day worker position, working 30.4 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary:
$117,272 to $126,182 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2025

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
Allowances:
- Please note that access to salaries beyond $123,487 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum

Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.
- Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Physiotherapy Board of Australia
- Registered with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia

- Current Driver’s Licence
- Minimum 3 years post graduate experience in a relevant field of practice.
