The Team

System Management and Reform (SMR) is the central policy, strategy, and planning group for the Department of Health (DoH). Strategic Purchasing and Funding (SPF) is a unit within SMR that manages and undertakes a lead role in the purchasing of services within the public and private sectors that drive high quality, value for money outcomes for Tasmanians, and monitoring the delivery of those services by providers to ensure key outcomes are achieved.

The Role

Contribute significantly to the efficient and effective operation of the SPF Unit in the development, implementation and monitoring of funding agreements, contracts of services, policies and procedures.
Undertake a diverse range of project related activities relating to commissioning, policy, procedural, and administrative frameworks.

You will need

  • Provide high level analysis of current commissioning frameworks to ensure consistency and currency, supporting the review, reform and improvement of operations and services.
  • Undertake qualitative and quantitative research, including collecting, analysing, and interpreting data and preparing reports, maintaining accurate and comprehensive record keeping systems that support continuous improvement and service delivery.
  • Coordinate and manage project-related work, liaising with stakeholders and providing advice and innovative options for consideration on matters relating to commissioning frameworks, including systems, policies and procedures.
  • Review and provide specialist advice on commissioning frameworks, recommending continuous improvement strategies and developing supporting documentation and guidelines as required.

Details of appointment

Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary

$102,027 to $106,985 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2025.
