The Team
Tasmanian Health Service (THS) Pathology Service provides Pathology services to Launceston General Hospital and the Northern regions of Tasmania. We are the only public pathology service operating in North Tasmania. Our service aims to deliver a high-quality service to general practitioners, medical specialists and private hospitals, providing patients with no out of pocket expenses for Medicare eligible tests. The team at THS Pathology comprises a large team involving multi-disciplinary scientists, technicians, non-technical staff and Pathologists.

About the successful candidate
The successful candidate will bring:
- Experience or demonstrated interest in pathology laboratory practice, with a particular enthusiasm for Cytology and the delivery of accurate diagnostic testing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret results, investigate issues and contribute to quality improvement activities.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and a broad range of stakeholders.
- A collaborative and adaptable approach, combined with the ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and maintain a commitment to ongoing professional development.

Details of appointment
Permanent full time, day worker with an on-call roster, working 76 hours per fortnight, from as soon as able to join the team.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary
$81,614 to $117,074 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement.
Salary Packaging
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

- Please note that access to salaries beyond $115,529 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum.

Eligibility
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
- Tertiary qualification/program of study in Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, or Science or Applied Science or equivalent suitable to the position from a recognised institution.
- Eligible for membership with a relevant professional body such as Australian Institute of Medical and Clinical Scientists, Australasian Association for Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine, The Australian Society for Microbiology, Human Genetics Society of Australasia or the Australian Society of Cytology.
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
- Membership/Fellowship awarded by a recognised professional body (ASC, AIMS)
