As Tasmania’s principal tertiary referral imaging service, the department provides comprehensive diagnostic and interventional radiology, including CT, MRI, ultrasound, general radiography, fluoroscopy, nuclear medicine, interventional radiology and interventional neuroradiology.

The team works closely with the Emergency Department, inpatient and outpatient services, multidisciplinary teams and other hospitals across Tasmania to provide timely, safe and patient-centred imaging care. It also supports statewide service delivery, particularly for complex tertiary imaging, interventional radiology and interventional neuroradiology.

Within the Department of Health, the team contributes to clinical care, medical education, registrar training, research, quality assurance and continuous service improvement.
