Working closely with the Principal Solicitor and Recorder of Titles, you will contribute to a diverse range of matters, including strata title administration, compliance examinations, complex land dealings, litigation management and the continuous improvement of processes and procedures.

This is a permanent full-time position (73.50 hours per fortnight), based in Hobart.

Our ideal candidate has

  • A strong foundation in statutory interpretation, legal research and policy development.
  • The ability to apply legal principles within operational environments, particularly in property law, land legislation or land titling systems.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly and confidently to a range of audiences.

Position requirements

  • Admitted, or qualified for and entitled to be admitted, as a Legal Practitioner of the Supreme Court of Tasmania under the Legal Profession Act 2007.
  • This role is suited to an early-career legal practitioner, including graduate practitioners and those with up to three years' relevant post-admission experience.

We offer

  • A unique opportunity to develop specialist expertise in statutory interpretation, land legislation and property law.
  • Meaningful work that helps underpin land ownership, property rights and confidence in Tasmania’s land titling system.
  • Excellent work-life balance, competitive leave entitlements and discounted access to a network of gyms and fitness centres across Tasmania.
  • A permanent position in the Land Titles Office, conveniently located near Hobart’s city centre, with easy access to public transport, cafes and local amenities.
