The Fixed-Term and Casual Employment Register is established to provide the Department with a pool of experienced and skilled people who are available for work at short notice.

Potential Vacancies

Administration Assistant

To undertake general administrative duties which, depending on the Division where the position is located, may vary.

Salary Range - $69,593 to $74,837 per annum – Tasmanian State Service Award, General Stream Band 2.

Administration Officer

To undertake a range of general administrative duties across different function which, depending on the Division where the position is located, may vary.

Salary Range - $77,850 to $84,084 per annum – Tasmanian State Service Award, General Stream Band 3.

Biosecurity Inspector

To work, as a member of a team, to ensure program plans and responses are successfully implemented to identify, prevent and respond to biosecurity risks and to maintain high standards of animal welfare and product integrity in Tasmania.

Salary Range - $77,850 to $84,084 per annum – Tasmanian State Service Award, General Stream Band 3.

Executive Assistant

Provide high-level administrative support which may include operating in an executive environment supporting senior managers.

Salary Range - $77,850 to $84,084 per annum – Tasmanian State Service Award, General Stream Band 3.

Field Officer

Implement the Field Centre operational plans, carry out works to maintain Field Centre infrastructure and facilities for the conservation and sustainable use of natural and cultural resources.

Salary Range - $69,593 to $74,837 per annum – Tasmanian State Service Award, General Stream Band 2.

Salary Range - $77,850 to $84,084 per annum – Tasmanian State Service Award, General Stream Band 3.

Finance Officer

As a member of the Financial Operations Section assist with and undertake the preparation and processing of the Department’s financial and accounting transactions and contribute to the provision of quality financial services, information and advice to Finance Branch clients.

Salary Range - $77,850 to $84,084 per annum – Tasmanian State Service Award, General Stream Band 3.

Fire Fighter

As a member of a team, fight fires and perform other fire management tasks including prescribed burning, clearing of vegetation, and maintenance of fire trails, firebreaks and waterholes. Undertake the maintenance of fire-fighting and other equipment used in these tasks. Assist in other regional operations when not required for fire management.

Salary Range - $55,616 to $67,344 pro rata per annum, Australian Workers Union (Tasmanian State Sector) Award, Band 1

Horticultural Assistant

Assisting with horticultural maintenance and development activities within the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens (RTBG). 

Salary Range - $69,593 to $74,837 pro rata per annum, Australian Workers Union (Tasmanian State Sector) Award, Band 2

Horticultural Labourer

Support the Estate Team with the maintenance of the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens (RTBG) lawns and paths and other associated work.

Salary Range - $55,616 to $67,344 pro rata per annum, Australian Workers Union (Tasmanian State Sector) Award, Band 1

Host Ranger

Host visitors to the Three Capes Track by providing information, interpretation, advice and assistance regarding the use and management of the Three Capes Track.

Salary Range - $69,593 to $74,837 per annum – Tasmanian State Service Award, General Stream Band 2.

IT Customer Support Officer

Provide customer focused information technology support services to customers in the delivery of help desk services, and undertake other operational and infrastructure activities.

Salary Range - $77,850 to $84,084 per annum – Tasmanian State Service Award, General Stream Band 3.

Payroll Officer

Provide a support and advisory service to clients on the day-to-day operational functions within People and Culture with a focus on payroll activities.

Salary Range - $77,850 to $84,084 per annum – Tasmanian State Service Award, General Stream Band 3.

Ranger

Implement the Field Centre operation plans, carry out works programs and projects to achieve the conservation and sustainable use of natural and cultural resources.

Technical Officer

Provide technical support services to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the facility. Adhere to protocols and procedures for the safe operation of the facility.

Salary Range - $77,850 to $84,084 per annum – Tasmanian State Service Award, General Stream Band 3.

Track Ranger

The purpose of the role is to support and contribute to the visitation experience through the maintenance of huts, tracks and other facilities and the provision of information, interpretation, advice and assistance to visitors.

Salary Range - $69,593 to $74,837 per annum – Tasmanian State Service Award, General Stream Band 2.

Visitor Reception Officer

The purpose of the role is to collect and account for entry fees from visitors to national parks, check park passes, and provide advice and information to visitors regarding recreational activities, safety, Leave No Trace principle use, features and facilities of national parks.

Salary Range - $55,616 to $67,344 per annum – Tasmanian State Service Award, General Stream Band 1.

Visitor Services Officer

To contribute towards effective visitor services and an enjoyable visitor experience by assisting with the day to day operations of the Field Centre (Band 2) including collection and reconciliation of public money including financial reporting; customer service; ticketing, cafe and parks shop ordering and organisation; general administrative duties (Band 3).

Salary Range - $69,593 to $74,837 per annum – Tasmanian State Service Award, General Stream Band 2.

Salary Range - $77,850 to $84,084 per annum – Tasmanian State Service Award, General Stream Band 3.

Visitor Services Officer (Cave Guide)

Provide information to the public relating to the natural assets of the Hastings Caves State Reserve (Newdegate Caves, Hastings Visitor Centre and Thermal Pool) or Mole Creek Karst National Park (Marakoopa and King Solomon’s Caves), and ensure the provision of high quality services that supports the business enterprise in areas such as site maintenance, security and public safety.

Salary Range - $69,593 to $74,837 per annum – Tasmanian State Service Award, General Stream Band 2.
