The Team:

The Family Violence Counselling and Support Service (FVCSS) offers a specialised counselling and support to assist adults, children and young people, children who have experienced family violence. This service is part of the Safe at Home service system, with a strong focus on the safety and well-being of victim survivors of family violence.

The Role:

  • Assist children and young people to recover from their experience of family violence trauma through the delivery of evidence based and family violence trauma informed therapeutic counselling and support. This will include a range of developmental and age appropriate techniques and tools within a counselling/therapeutic setting.
  • Contribute to and participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of group programs.
  • Provide information and support, referral and advice to clients and other service providers.

You will need

  • Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and practice experience of family violence trauma and its impact on the developmental needs of children and young people, together with the ability to assess complex dynamics and risk and safety assessments within a specialist family violence framework.
  • Demonstrated ability to work therapeutically with children and young people who have complex needs, including the ability to work effectively with family members and other service providers in a complex care context.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise professional judgment and initiative, work with general supervision and seek guidance as appropriate.

Details of appointment:

Permanent, part-time, day worker position, working 45.60 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: 

$81,614 to $117,074 per annum (Pro rata) + our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No.2 of 2025.

Salary Packaging:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Allowances 

  • Please note that access to salaries beyond $117,074 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Satisfactory completion of an approved allied health professional tertiary qualification/program of study and registered with the relevant National Board or in the case of self-regulated allied health professions with either full membership or eligible for membership with the relevant professional association
  • Current Working with Children Registration
