  • Provide authoritative advice, briefings and recommendations on procurement, contract and insurable risk management policies and frameworks across the State Service.
  • Oversee the financial management and policy settings for the Tasmanian Risk Management Fund.
  • Effectively lead the financial management of the Branch’s fleet and contract management functions.
  • Research and evaluate contemporary approaches to branch outputs, to inform effective policy proposals and projects suitable to introduction into the State Service.
  • Represent the Department and Government to agency and industry stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with State Service agencies and other organisations to support whole-of-government initiatives, public finance outcomes, and broader public policy objectives.

About You

This is an exciting opportunity to lead and manage a large team of professionals across a diverse range of policy and operational issues in the face of competing demands, tight deadlines, and resourcing constraints.

You will have highly developed interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills with a proven track record of successfully influencing strategic outcomes across multiple and diverse stakeholder groups while retaining high levels of trust and credibility.

This role suits someone with the ability to provide high level policy direction and strategic leadership on complex and technical issues related to whole of government procurement, contract management, and insurable risks.

About the Branch

The Procurement, Risk and Contract Management Branch provides advice on and manages the Government's procurement framework and common use contracts. The branch minimises the cost of risk to government agencies through the Government Insurance and Risk Fund.

Period of Appointment 

This is a fixed term appointment for a period of 5 years.

Desirable Requirements.

Completion of relevant tertiary or industry qualifications and/or professional affiliation.
