The Team

The Occupational Therapy Service includes over 90 team members consisting of occupational therapists and assistants, play specialists, diversional therapists, carpenter, and administration officers. We work across acute, sub-acute and community settings, including the Royal Hobart Hospital, the largest teaching Hospital in Tasmania. The Role:

As Deputy Manager – Occupational Therapy (Rehabilitation), you play a key leadership role in shaping service delivery and supporting staff development. This position is responsible for the management and development of over 20 Occupational Therapy Service staff working across sub-acute and community sites. Your leadership is essential for maintaining excellence in patient outcomes and aligning services with the Department’s CARE values—Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence.

You will work closely with the Occupational Therapy leadership team and multi-disciplinary leads to ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based services. You will also represent occupational therapy in the wider health care setting and deputise for the Head of Department when required. 

You will need:

  • Extensive experience as an Occupational Therapist in Rehabilitation, Geriatric Evaluation and Management and / or Transition Care Programs. 
  • A proven ability to lead, engage others and drive change. 
  • A passion for staff well-being and development.

Details of appointment

Permanent part time, day worker position, working 60.8 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon possible.

Salary

$139,670 to $143,063 per annum pro rata. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

Eligibility

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia

  • Registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Post-graduate studies in occupational therapy, public health, or health services leadership or management or other related area
