The Team

  • The Smithton District Hospital (SDH) and Community Health Centre are small sized sub-acute public hospital located in Smithton Tasmania which services the whole Circular Head region with a catchment population of 8000 people.
  • Smithton Community services provide a 7 day a week daytime service, providing care to clients in their own home and within the clinic.
  • Smithton Community Services is a small close-knit team of health professional which operate out of the Smithton District Hospital to provide care to clients either in their own home or through Community Nursing clinics at the hospital.

The Role

  • Assist with the day-to-day management and coordination of resources to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Ensure the maintenance of effective communication channels with internal and external stakeholders to promote patient/client care delivery.
  • Provide a high level of clinical knowledge and skill to ensure clinical standards and policies and procedures to promote a patient focused model of care according to best practice principles

You will need:

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
  • Driver's licence
  • current working with children and working with Vulnerable People registration

Details of appointment

  • Permanent part time, shift worker position, working up to 48 hours per fortnight, commencing 5 July 2026.

*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary

$109,767 to $115,813 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: 

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type 

Salary Packaging 

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. 

Regional Allowances

  • Rural Professional Development Allowance of an additional salary allowance of 4%

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
