The Team
Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania’s largest hospital, and the Cardiothoracic Surgical Unit within the RHH is the tertiary referral centre for all cardiothoracic surgery in Tasmania. As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH works closely with the University of Tasmania and other institutions. All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.
The Role
As a member of a multidisciplinary team in a dynamic environment, the Administrative Assistant in the Emergency Department, provides a wide range of administrative services to the Emergency Department leadership team and internal and external stakeholders to support business activities, and projects.
You will need
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in contemporary office management practices, including well developed computer skills and experience with a range of computer programs.
- Highly developed interpersonal and written communication skills, including the ability to undertake duties in a professional manner with an ability to negotiate and liaise and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work individually and as a member of a team, with a proven ability to work under pressure, in an environment of competing priorities, to meet identified timeframes.
- Personal qualities such as initiative, flexibility, sound judgement, and discretion including the ability to interpret and analyse information and recommend or decide upon appropriate action.

Details of appointment
Permanent part time, shift worker position, working 44 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary
$76,849 to $82,996 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2025
