Job description:

Responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of staff training and professional development activities that support the service and operational requirements of Services for Youth Justice, including the Ashley Youth Detention Centre (AYDC) and Community Youth Justice. This position will be responsible for coordinating the delivery of training and professional development activities for Ashley Youth Detention Centre and Community Youth Justice staff. Providing leadership, direction and high levels of ethical and professional behaviour, and promote a safe, therapeutic and secure environment for young people and staff.

Duties

Responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of staff training and professional development activities that support the service and operational requirements of Services for Youth Justice, including the Ashley Youth Detention Centre (AYDC) and Community Youth Justice.
This position will be responsible for coordinating the delivery of training and professional development activities for Ashley Youth Detention Centre and Community Youth Justice staff. Providing leadership, direction and high levels of ethical and professional behaviour, and promote a safe, therapeutic and secure environment for young people and staff.

Period of Appointment

Permanent, ongoing

Hours per fortnight

76 hours per fortnight

Essential Requirements

The Registration to Work with Vulnerable People Act 2013 requires persons undertaking work in a regulated activity to be registered. A regulated activity is a child related service or activity defined in the Registration to Work with Vulnerable People Regulations 2014. This registration must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of this may be checked at any time during employment.

• Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Registration Status - Employment).

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

  1. Conviction checks in the following areas:
    1. crimes of violence
    2. sex related offences
    3. serious drug offences
    4. crimes involving dishonesty
  2. Identification check
  3. Disciplinary actions in previous employment check

Desirable Requirements

Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent
