Job description:
Join Audit Tasmania’s Financial Audit Services team and gain hands on experience supporting the delivery of the State’s statutory financial audit program. In this entry level role, you will assist senior auditors with audit work, help draft reports to Parliament and contribute to improving public sector accountability. Ideal for second or third year university students, this position offers practical audit experience while you complete your studies.

Period of Appointment
Fixed Term - 12 months
Hours per fortnight
73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available.
Duties
- Completes allocated audit tasks in accordance with the audit plan, agreed or set timeframes and Office standards of performance and accountability.
- Records results of audit work for review by team leader.
- Advises other members of the audit team of issues in a timely manner and offers solutions.
- Assists in the preparation of drafts for the Auditor-General’s Report to Parliament.
- Use of business systems such as Word, Excel and use of the internet to perform routine tasks.
Performance is measured against Key Performance Indicators that are developed and agreed to for each role in the Office and documented in annual Performance Plans.
Pre-employment Checks
The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this position is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
- Conviction checks in the following; Arson and fire setting; Violent crimes and crimes against the person; Sex-related offences; Drug and alcohol related offences; Crimes involving dishonesty; Crimes involving deception; Making false declarations; Malicious damage and destruction to property; Serious traffic offences; Crimes against public order or relating to the Administration of Law and Justice; Crimes against Executive or the Legislative Power; Crimes involving Conspiracy.
- Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
- Identification check.
Desirable Requirements
Studying a Certificate II or III qualification up to a tertiary qualification at degree level in a relevant discipline from a recognised tertiary institution that will enable the incumbent to be eligible to complete a recognised post graduate accounting certificate program.
Driver’s Licence.
