
About the Role
Located in Cambridge, Southern Tasmania, this permanent full time Trade Assistant position offers the opportunity to work under the guidance of experienced tradespeople, gaining hands-on experience across a broad range of equipment, including:
- Heavy diesel trucks and vehicles
- Mobile plant and machinery
- Emergency service operations.
You will learn to
- Assist with design, build, maintenance and repairs
- Diagnose mechanical and basic electrical faults
- Use tools, diagnostic equipment, and workshop systems safely
- Follow workplace safety, quality, and environmental procedures
- Develop skills across multiple disciplines

Who Should Apply
We welcome applications from:
- School leavers or young apprentices
- Mature-aged apprentices
- Fully qualified tradespeople (e.g. Light Vehicle, Automotive, Auto Electrical) looking to complete a second trade
- Anyone with a genuine interest in Vehicle Fabrication.
About You
- Have a genuine interest in heavy diesel and machinery
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Previous experience is an advantage but not essential
- Current manual driver’s licence (or working towards)
Desirable Requirements
- A current unrestricted Drivers Licence.
- Forklift licence.
- Medium / Heavy Vehicle Licence.
- Practical experience working within the automotive industry.
