Job description:
The purpose of the role is to manage water resources in Tasmania in accordance with the objectives of the Water Management Act 1999.

About the role
The Water Management Officer is central to ensuring the responsible use, allocation and protection of Tasmania’s freshwater systems. In this role you’ll engage primarily with farmers, agricultural producers, commercial water users and other stakeholders, lead compliance activities, and provide technical advice to support informed decision making and agricultural growth. You will also contribute to water management planning, dam safety regulation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Hours per fortnight
73.50 hours per fortnight (minimum 58.80 hours, by negotiation).
Period of appointment
2 years or until the return of the substantive, whichever is earliest.
Desirable requirements
- A Diploma in civil engineering, natural resource management, agriculture or water management, or equivalent level, relevant to the nature of the work to be undertaken, as provided by either a university, a vocational education organisation or a registered and accredited training provider.
- Relevant experience in water or natural resource management.
- A current motor vehicle driver’s licence.
- A Workplace 2 First Aid Certificate, or equivalent.
