Job description:

The objective of this position is to provide high-level advice and information to the Director Compensation Schemes to ensure they are appraised of emerging issues and trends and to implement projects and programs relating to workers compensation and asbestos compensation.

Period of Appointment

ASAP until 15 January 2025.

Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available.


  • Research, analyse and provide advice regarding policy options in relation to the areas of workers compensation and asbestos compensation and work health and safety. Prepare associated reports, proposals and recommendations for the Director Compensation Schemes and the WorkCover Tasmania Board.
  • Undertake investigations and reviews into contemporary workers compensation issues, including monitoring and reporting on developments across other jurisdictions, providing advice to the Director Compensation Schemes and the WorkCover Tasmania Board.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and undertake projects and programs to improve Tasmania’s workers compensation and asbestos compensation schemes.
  • Liaise with stakeholders and other WorkSafe Tasmania staff, on the various projects and programs undertaken by, or of interest to, WorkSafe Tasmania and the WorkCover Tasmania Board including the identification of emerging issues and other research topics.

Essential Requirements

  • A current drivers licence

Desirable Requirements

A degree or tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline.
