Job description:

This is a fantastic opportunity for a psychologist with experience in paediatrics and/or rehabilitation who would like to be part of an exciting new service. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to join RHH Psychology Services and be a part of the statewide Tasmanian Paediatric Rehabilitation Service (TPRS).  TPRS provides specialised, coordinated paediatric rehabilitation to children, young people, and their families across the state.

 The role:

We are looking for an experienced psychologist to join the RH Psychology Services team working within the Tasmanian Paediatric Rehabilitation Service (TPRS). As the TPRS psychologist, you will provide inpatient and outpatient care to children 0-18 years of age with a functional impairment due to complex health conditions.  The children you see will have conditions including:

  • Cerebral palsy / high risk of cerebral palsy
  • Acquired brain injury
  • Complex movement disorders
  • Complex orthopaedic conditions
  • Neurological conditions (e.g. stroke, Guillain-Barre syndrome)
  • Functional neurological disorder
  • Spinal cord injury
  • Limb deficiency

We welcome applicants with a background in clinical and/or neuropsychology. The psychologist will contribute to outpatient services such as brain injury clinic alongside the medical, nursing and allied health team.  The role includes provision of assessment and intervention with children presenting with congenital and acquired neurodevelopmental disabilities or injuries and those with other psychological, emotional or behavioural needs as part of their rehabilitation program.

The team:

This team will work under a newly established Model of Care developed through co-design with patients, families and clinicians over recent years. Successful candidates will embrace our shared vision, mission, and values, which together support the delivery of child and family centred care.

We are seeking collaborative, passionate, and skilled people to join our interdisciplinary team. Our team provides inpatient and outpatient care at the Royal Hobart Hospital.

The THS values ongoing professional development (PD) and a generous PD allowance will be provided.  Professional support will be jointly provided by the RHH Psychology Department and TPRS leadership team.

Details of appointment:

1x Fixed term, part time, day worker position, working 30.4 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 30 April 2026.

1x Fixed term, part time, day worker position, working 30.4 hours per fortnight, commencing in February 2026 until 30 April 2026.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary: Allied Health Professional Level 3

$110,425 to $119,290 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No.2 of 2022

Salary Packaging:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. 

Allowances: 

  • Please note that access to salaries beyond $119,290 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme 

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: 

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Psychology Board of Australia
  • Registered with the Psychology Board of Australia
  • Current Working with Children Registration

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Endorsement by the Psychology Board of Australia as a Clinical Psychologist or Clinical Neuropsychologist
  • Post graduate degree in Clinical Psychology or Clinical Neuropsychology
