Job description:

The Executive Medical Director provides clinical leadership, direction, and professional oversight for medical practitioners in Ambulance Tasmania.

The Team:

As an experienced Specialist Medical Practitioner, with broad clinical experience, works with stakeholders throughout the health care system to improve patient care service models.

The Executive Medical Director provides clinical leadership, direction, and professional oversight for medical practitioners in Ambulance Tasmania.

The role supports this group to provide medical services across all of Ambulance Tasmania’s business functions and response capabilities including clinical advice and coordination, primary (pre-hospital) and secondary (inter-hospital) responses, interfacility patient transport, disaster preparedness and response, research, education, quality improvement and professional development for Ambulance Tasmania’s clinical staff.

As a senior clinical leader in Ambulance Tasmania, the Executive Medical Director ensures all clinical programs and services provide the highest quality and standard of medical care. Together with the Director of Clinical Services and Director of Operations, the Executive Medical Director ensures that clinical practice guidelines and the direction of human, financial and material resources are appropriate to supporting the goals, policies, and vision of the organisation.

Details of appointment:

Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant

Salary:

Specialist Medical Practitioners

Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1- Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $216,300 - $310,389 per annum, pro rata + 11.5% superannuation + access to salary packaging

Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $300,216 -$310,389 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award

  • Salary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022

In addition, the following allowances and benefit, calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Salary packaging options include a range of benefits like living expenses up to $9,010 and $2,650 in meals and entertainment every year
  • Provision of a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle or an allowance in lieu of a motor vehicle.
  • Participation in Private Practice Scheme 35% or allowance in lieu of private practice schemes 35%
  • Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,480 per annum
  • Professional development and accelerated pathways.
  • A range of leave entitlements, including study leave and Professional Development Support.
  • Fitness Passport – You, and your family can access 40+ fitness facilities across Tasmania for just $13.95 per week per person, or $25.95 for a family.
  • other allowances as applicable.

Eligibility:

Eligibility: Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria as

  • Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty

    *Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Postgraduate tertiary qualification in a relevant field of study (Masters or PhD, Diploma Pre-hospital and Retrieval Medicine or similar qualification)
  • Substantial managerial experience at senior manager or executive level
  • Safety, quality and service accreditation experience
  • Extensive operational experience as a practicing clinician
  • Significant research and education experience, academic appointments, and publications
  • Significant experience in ambulance operations
  • Current Driver’s Licence
