Job description:
The Royal Hobart Hospital is seeking interest from highly motivated applicants who wish to ultimately pursue a career in Plastic Surgery.
The Royal Hobart Hospital is the tertiary referral hospital for Tasmania, and the principal teaching hospital for the University of Tasmania Medical School. The Hospital provides most specialist medical services for the region or state.
The Department offers a wide range of experience in trauma, hand and wrist surgery, skin cancer, burns and general paediatric and adult reconstructive surgery. There is an active teaching programme with a high degree of commitment from consultants to teach and supervise. Research and publications are actively encouraged.
The Department comprises of six Plastic Surgeons each with a super speciality interest, four Registrars (one PRS SET Trainee from the VIC/TAS training programme, 3 Unaccredited), one Surgical Basic Trainee (previously referred to as Senior Resident Medical Officer) and one Intern.

The Department will be appointing three Unaccredited Registrars for 2026.

Salary
$134,930 – $189,005 per annum
|
Classification
Medical Practitioner Level 5-11 (Registrar/Senior Registrar)
Salary is in accordance with the Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022

Period of Employment
Fixed term full-time day work, working 76 hours (+ 10 hours protected training time) per fortnight commencing 02 February 2026 until 01 February 2027. Please note up to 24-month contracts negotiable with suitable applicants.
Applicants should note that, for a period of a twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time and casual vacancies.

Duties
Responsible for the day to day management of private and public inpatients and outpatients within the allocated site/facility. Provide after-hours emergency as determined by the relevant work unit.

Essential Requirements
