The Team:

The Mersey Community Hospital is situated on the North West Coast and provides quality general and specialist healthcare services to the local community.

This position complements other members of the infection and prevention control team with a primary focus on education for staff on personal protective equipment usage and infection control protocols and policies. 

The Clinical Nurse Educator maintains a high degree of autonomy and receives guidance from the Assistant Director of Nursing - Education and Research and/or the Executive Director of Nursing/Midwifery.

We are searching for someone who is able to build productive working relationship not only with staff, but with education providers.

For starters we are after a confident and capable Nurse who has excellent clinical and bedside skills. An understanding of the requirements of ongoing education and development of a health facility is critical.

Your communication skills must be top notch, in this role they will be your most important tools.  The list of skills should be so long that we can't list them all here, but if we had to pick a few it would be your ability to influence, inspire and ensure a clear message is delivered.

You must be able to design, develop, implement and evaluate education and training for nursing and midwifery staff to support and enhance their competency in areas critical to the organisation now and in the future.

The Role:

The Clinical Nurse Educator maintains a high degree of autonomy and receives guidance from the Assistant Director of Nursing – Education and Research and/or the Executive Director of Nursing/Midwifery. 

The Role of the Clinical Nurse Educator - Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) is to:

  • Develop, implement and evaluate infection control education programs.
  • Promote and facilitate infection control workforce planning.
  • Build capacity in conjunction with the IPC team, for quality improvement activities, to address unwarranted clinical variation.
  • Liaise and consult with members of health care teams, in line with IPC policies, practices and legal requirements, to provide safe quality patient care

Details of appointment:

Permanent, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as you can join our team!

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $114,851 to $121,886 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type 

Salary Packaging:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. 

Benefits available to eligible candidates

  • Payment of $15,000 staged over three years is available for Nurses and Midwives who move to Tasmania from interstate and remain employed full time for three years or more, on top of relocation allowance already available.
  • Travel and relocation assistance support available up to $15,000 for eligible appointees from overseas, and up to $10,000 for appointees from interstate.

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Holds a relevant qualification in an educational focused tertiary program
  • Relevant IPC qualification, or working towards
  • Current Driver’s Licence
