As the Clinical Director for the Northern Cancer Service, you will undertake strategic responsibilities representing us at Statewide and National levels in discussions related to cancer service design, delivery and innovation as well as future planning.
About Us: The Tasmanian Health Service is seeking a Clinical Director to play a pivotal role within the Northern Cancer Service. Operating across three sites, this comprehensive, integrated Cancer Service offers state of the art medical oncology, radiation oncology and haematology services, catering to a population of approximately 250,000 in Northern Tasmania.
Your Role: As the Clinical Director, your primary responsibility will be to provide strategic leadership and direction. This entails ensuring the efficient utilisation of resources, effective integration of services within the hospital/service, and achieving the highest standards of service delivery, all in alignment with hospital/service policy directions, service standards, and financial targets. With the demand on our service is ever increasing, the key to success is support and empowerment of your staff. The role also includes capacity to work clinically in your oncology/haematology sub-speciality. Details of Appointment
Permanent, full time, day work, position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing February 2024. The successful applicant will also be part of an on-call roster within their Sub-Speciality Oncology team.

Salary
Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1- Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $163,005 - $247,768 per annum, pro rata + 11% superannuation + access to salary packaging
- Above Salary range is in accordance with Salaried Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2019
*Please note that Salaried Medical Practitioners Agreement is currently has recently been negotiation but not yet certified by the Tasmanian Industrial Commission”

Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $234,726 -$247,768 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Provision of a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle or motor vehicle allowance of $25,758 per annum, pro rata
- Communication allowance of $1,948 per annum, pro rata
- Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $24,927 per annum, pro rata
- Private Patient Allowance
- On Call Allowance
- Managerial Allowance, in accordance with the award
- Relocation package and accommodation allowance available
Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
- Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant oncology/haematology speciality
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
1. Fellowship of the Australian Royal Medical College relevant to the applicant’s oncology/haematology speciality
2. Current Driver’s Licence
The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
