About Libraries Tasmania
Libraries Tasmania is a unique organisation, providing contemporary library and archives services to all Tasmanians. Libraries Tasmania is responsible for Tasmania’s public library network, covering 47 locations statewide, and for the State Library and Archives of Tasmania.
About the Role
As a member of the Description and Access team, you will play a critical role in the cataloguing and accessibility of collections for Libraries Tasmania’s public libraries as well as the State Library and Archives of Tasmania
The successful applicant will also provide professional advice to the Senior Librarian Library Description and Access regarding the development, implementation and evaluation of cataloguing and description activities, as well as strategies to guide the provision of library and information services for the Tasmanian community.
This position is based in Hobart but provides opportunities to travel across the state. About You
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive library professional who enjoys working with others, has an eye for detail and a passion for cataloguing and describing collections, so they are visible, accessible, and used.
Duties
Provide general professional customer focused library and/or archival services or assist in the development and delivery of specialist library and information services, to a high standard of customer service.
Period of Appointment
Ongoing - ASAP start date
Applicants should be aware that for twelve (12) months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill any subsequent full-time or part-time vacancies in accordance with Employment Direction 1.
Hours per fortnight
73.5 hours per fortnight
Essential Requirements
- Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Registration Status – Employment)
- Degree or diploma in librarianship or information studies at a recognised university or college of advance education or a postgraduate diploma in librarianship or information studies. Eligibility for admission to Associate membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).
