Job description:

Lead strategic projects and policy to advance Tasmania’s waste recovery goals, manage a high-performing team, and influence statewide outcomes.

About the role

Lead a high-performing team within the Waste and Resource Recovery (WRR) Business Unit to deliver strategic projects and policy advice that shape Tasmania’s circular economy. This role plays a key part in supporting the objectives of the Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy and advising the WRR Board on future directions, investment priorities, and legislative matters.

  • Oversee complex, high-profile projects that support Tasmania’s waste recovery goals.
  • Manage relationships with industry, community stakeholders and government.
  • Guide and develop a collaborative team culture focused on innovation and impact.
  • Lead policy development and strategic planning aligned with legislative priorities.
  • Influence statewide environmental outcomes through cross-sector engagement and leadership.

Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight (minimum 58.80 hours, by negotiation).

Desirable requirements

  • A degree or an equivalent qualification relevant to the nature of the work to be undertaken, as provided by a university, a vocational education organisation or a registered and accredited training provider.
  • A current motor vehicle driver’s licence.
