Macquarie Point is one of Tasmania’s most iconic and strategically significant redevelopment projects — a rare opportunity to shape a precinct of national importance. We are seeking an exceptional senior leader to join our team as Director Capital Delivery, driving the planning, design and delivery of highly complex and transformative projects, across the Macquarie Point Precinct.
This is a landmark role for a bold, solutions‑focused leader with deep expertise in major project delivery who thrives in complexity, influence and strategic impact.
About the Role
As the Director Capital Delivery, you will be the driving force behind a portfolio of major, multi‑stakeholder infrastructure and development projects. You will:
- Lead the functional briefing, design and construction of complex mixed‑use developments.
- Oversee internal project planning, operating procedures, governance and reporting frameworks.
- Provide high‑level strategic leadership to multidisciplinary project teams, consultants and contractors.
- Navigate sensitive, high‑stakes negotiations across government, industry and community stakeholders.
- Manage project budgets, performance, risk and delivery to ensure outcomes that reflect the Corporation’s strategic objectives.
- Represent the Corporation across forums, partnerships and high‑profile engagements.
- Lead teams responsible for lease, tenancy and site safety management to ensure obligations and objectives are met.
You will play a critical role as part of the Senior Management Team—contributing to strategic planning, development priorities and the long‑term vision for the Macquarie Point site.
What You Will Bring
To excel in this role, you will bring:
Proven Leadership in Major Projects
- Extensive experience in successfully delivering large‑scale infrastructure projects within complex commercial and/or government environments.
- Demonstrated capability in leading multidisciplinary teams and managing high‑value consulting and contracting arrangements.
High-Level Strategic and Analytical Thinking
- Strength in conceptualising, planning and delivering innovative solutions in evolving political, social and organisational contexts.
- An ability to manage uncertainty, pivot approach when needed and provide sound judgement on emerging strategic issues.
Influence, Negotiation and Relationships
- Exceptional communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience cultivating productive partnerships across all levels of government, industry partners and community stakeholders.
Technical Expertise
- High-level research and analytical skills relating to infrastructure planning, site development and capital project briefing.
- A comprehensive understanding of strategic project management principles, governance and risk.
Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Architecture, Project Management, Engineering or a related field (essential).
- Experience across both public and private sectors (highly regarded).
