Job description:

Produce high quality outputs for the Spatial Data and Products Section and contribute to the ongoing maintenance, upgrade and development of Tasmanian spatial data sets, including both vector and raster datasets.

About the role

The Spatial Information Officer supports the delivery of high-quality spatial data products and the ongoing maintenance, enhancement and development of Tasmania’s spatial datasets.

Working within the Spatial Data and Products Section, you will contribute to accurate, reliable information that underpins planning, decision making and service delivery across government and industry.

  • Manage, update and quality-check spatial data (vector and raster), ensuring accuracy and reliability across the State’s mapping and location services.
  • Use GIS tools to analyse, manipulate and integrate geospatial information.
  • Work with a wide range of spatial datasets including aerial imagery, property boundaries, transport networks, buildings, vegetation, hydrography and LIST datasets.

Two permanent positions are available, and successful applicants can be based in Hobart or Launceston.

Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight (minimum 58.80 hours, by negotiation).

Desirable requirements

  • A Diploma or Advanced Diploma in a Spatial Information Science, or equivalent level, relevant to the nature of the work to be undertaken, as provided by either a university, a vocational education organisation or a registered and accredited training provider.
  • A current motor vehicle driver’s licence.
