Job description:

Lead the Dam Safety work program to advise on develop and implement the Agencies statutory dam safety obligations and policies and support all dam owners to be compliant with their dam safety obligations under the Water Management Act 1999.

About the role

As a Dam Safety Coordinator (Water Policy and Planning), you will lead the dam safety and regulatory assurance work program in NRE Tas that supports dam owners to meet their dam safety obligations under Tasmania’s Water Management Act 1999

You will design and implement regulatory dam safety activities and programs, support and coordinate a small team to administer regulatory activities to ensure dam owners comply with legislated dam safety obligations. The role will also provide advice on dam safety emergency management and response processes, undertake regulatory review and audits of annual dam safety reporting by portfolio dam owners as well as private dam owners. It will require engagement with dam owners and regulators, engineers, and industry stakeholders regarding dam safety. Your leadership and regulatory expertise will help and support government and dam owners to safeguard Tasmania’s water infrastructure and the safety of communities by ensuring that dam owners understand and comply with legislated dam safety obligations.

Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight (minimum 58.80 hours, by negotiation).

Desirable requirements

  • A relevant tertiary qualification.
  • A current motor vehicle driver's licence.
