Job description:
Working as part of a supportive team, the Graduate Engineer will provide professional engineering support and advice to work groups across the Transport Group of the Department of State Growth, that includes the Transport Policy and Planning (TPP), and Transport Delivery and Assets (TDA) Divisions, with the graduate program being coordinated from the TPP Division.
The Graduate Engineer will gain hands-on experience across a variety of transport and infrastructure projects and assist in the development of practical solutions to engineering challenges.

With a 3,800km state road network, road, rail, airport and port transport infrastructure across the state, and a significant 10 year infrastructure maintenance, renewal and upgrade capital works program, this is a great time to join the Transport Group within the Department of State Growth.
Duties
- Assist with engineering investigations, including reviewing data, monitoring progress, and helping prepare reports with practical recommendations.
- Support the planning and delivery of road and bridge projects, supporting team members to meet project objectives and learning how to apply engineering principles in real-world situations.
- Prepare draft reports, correspondence, and briefing materials, building confidence in professional communication.
- Contribute to improvements in how we work, by helping to develop and maintain policies, procedures, databases, and systems.
- Collaborate with a range of stakeholders, including colleagues, and potential contractors, and partner organisations, to support effective project outcomes.
- Represent the Division at meetings and forums when required, developing professional networks and communication skills.
- Take an active role in your professional development, identifying learning opportunities and building your skills as an emerging engineer.
Essential Requirements
Evidence of the following must be provided prior to appointment to this role:
- Satisfactory completion of a relevant 4-year (minimum) university degree in engineering that is accredited by Engineers Australia; or satisfactory completion of academic qualifications in Engineering that are recognised by Engineers Australia as being an equivalent qualification
- Current drivers licence
The person must continue to satisfy the above essential requirements/qualifications throughout their employment in this role.
