Job description:

This position contributes to the efficient operation of the Tasmanian Electoral Commission by providing election administration support with a focus on inventory management and logistics.

Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available. 

Duties

  • Responsible for election inventory preparations and physical management of equipment, electoral materials and supplies, including location and distribution for state-wide electoral events; sourcing, routine inspection and hiring of polling day premises; and management of casual staff appointed to assist with preparations, distribution and return of materials, supplies and equipment as described above.
  • For parliamentary and local government elections, manage key processes including but not limited to telephone voting, postal voting, interstate voting, Antarctic voting, provisional vote management and management of casual staff appointed to deliver these services to electors.
  • Under supervision of the Operations Manager and in consultation with the Elections Coordinators, prepares and delivers instructional material related to the above preparations and processes.
  • Act as returning officer or otherwise assist with statutory and non-statutory elections and other ballots.
  • Provide in house early voting services for interstate and overseas electoral authorities.
  • Liaise with a broad range of electoral stakeholders including casual staff, electors, government and non-government organisations.
  • Actively contribute to the review and development of electoral systems and procedures.
  • Works in collaboration with and understands the duties of the Elections Officer (Staffing) and provides assistance to that role where directed.
  • Provide assistance with other TEC tasks and projects as required.
