Are you ready to lead impactful projects while preserving some of Australia’s most significant heritage sites? The Port Arthur Historic Site Management Authority (PAHSMA) is seeking an experienced and dynamic Program Manager to oversee key initiatives that combine innovation with the stewardship of Tasmania’s treasured past.

About Us

PAHSMA manages three of the eleven sites that form the UNESCO-listed Australian Convict Sites World Heritage Property: the Port Arthur Historic Site, the Coal Mines Historic Site, and the Cascades Female Factory. These sites are not only vital to Australia’s heritage but also globally recognised for their cultural and historical significance.

As part of our team, you’ll help ensure these spaces remain places of learning, reflection, and connection, fostering conversations about Australia’s complex history and its future.

The Role

In this key position, you’ll coordinate a program of projects and strategic initiatives aligned with PAHSMA’s Strategic Plan. With a focus on conservation, visitor experience, and sustainability, your work will support the delivery of innovative solutions that honour the past while embracing the future.

Duties

  • Manage, from a program level, the execution of projects in line with the PAHSMA Strategic Plan, focusing on conservation, visitor experience, and organisational sustainability. This includes implementing a framework for project governance, management processes and reporting to ensure consistency of decision making, reporting and evaluation. 
  • Manage the delivery of specific projects as determined by the CEO.
  • Drive innovation and adaptability in program management, aligning with an appropriate level of project management and assist with developing the capacity of the Senior Leadership Team to work in an aligned and effective manner to deliver projects.
  • Manage resources judiciously, including budgeting to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Identify risks and manage changes effectively, ensuring program alignment with strategic priorities and responsiveness to emerging challenges.
  • Utilise key performance indicators to assess program effectiveness, reporting outcomes to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team.
  • Engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders to deliver the Strategic Plan program.
  • Work under the direction of the CEO on special projects as required to deliver high quality outcomes for PAHSMA. This may include writing scopes of work, managing procurement processes, providing high level analysis and reporting, and managing projects.
  • Assist as required in the development of key planning documents such as the Corporate Plan and Annual Business Plans.

Essential Requirements

  • Current driver’s license 

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience working with cultural heritage organisations would be valuable, although it is not necessary.

  • A commitment to preserving and interpreting cultural heritage is highly desirable.
