Job description:
The Tasmanian Health Service is seeking interest from suitable applicants for Registrar vacancies in Anatomical Pathology at the Royal Hobart Hospital.

The Royal Hobart Hospital provides a comprehensive tertiary diagnostic and consultative Anatomical Pathology service. The trainee registrar will have excellent training opportunities and involvement in a wide range of diagnostic services in all aspects of histopathology, autopsy pathology and cytopathology. Rotations occur to Forensic Pathology and Hobart Pathology.
Registrars are involved in clinical meetings, teaching and research.
The Royal Hobart Hospital is accredited for the Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia.
Salary
$134,930 to $189,005 per annum
Salary range is in accordance with the Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022

Period of Employment
Fixed term, full time day work, 76 hours per fortnight (+10 hours protected training time per fortnight, pro rata) commencing 1 February 2027 until 8 February 2028 (24 months negotiable).
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time and casual vacancies.

Duties
The Registrar is responsible for the day to day Surgical cut-up, biopsy reporting and surgical meetings at the Royal Hobart Hospital.

Essential Requirements
- General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements).
The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
1. Conviction checks in the following areas:
a) Crimes of Violence
b) Sex Related Offences
c) Serious Drug Offences
d) Crimes involving dishonesty
2. Identification check
3. Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
