Job description:

Serve as an important piece of the Physiotherapy leadership team and provide expert clinical advice and oversight of the early intervention of people with hip and knee arthritis awaiting hip or knee surgery.

The Team:

You will serve as an important piece of the Physiotherapy leadership team and provide expert clinical advice and oversight of the early intervention of people with hip and knee arthritis awaiting hip or knee surgery.

The Role:

  • Lead the early intervention assessment program and coordinate case management, including supervision and direction of Allied Health members of the team: Dietitian, Occupational Therapist, Pharmacist and Rehabilitation Physiotherapist.
  • Provide expert clinical opinion (assessment and refer appropriately) for patients on the orthopaedic waiting list.
  • Supervise and coordinate the management of rehabilitation provided by relevant physiotherapy staff for patients who are on the waiting list.
  • Audit and manage Early Intervention programs across North West (NW) sites to ensure new programs are achieving expectations of Executive.
  • Engage, communicate and liaise with all stakeholders e.g. referring doctors, orthopaedic team, regarding the development of early intervention programs.
  • Provide strategic advice on the direction and development of the early intervention orthopaedic project.
  • Provide appropriate clinical support to the Rehabilitation Physiotherapist entailing supervision and advice re: appropriate patients to commence Rehabilitation Program.

You will need 

  • Highly developed leadership and communication skills
  • Advanced skills and experience assessing people with Osteoarthritis and prescription of intervention programs for those listed for hip and knee arthroplasty 
  • Skills in educating and mentoring team members

Details of appointment:

Fixed term, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from 18 May 2026 until 4 January 2027. 

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $123,717 to $134,336 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Union Wages Agreement No.2 of 2022
  • Please note that access to salaries beyond $130,900 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme 

Salary Packaging:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. 

Allowances:

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum

Eligibility:

  • Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Physiotherapy Board of Australia

  • Registered with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia
